It’s really sad that lately TV shows don’t have opening songs or themes. Now it just simply shows the title and a song, the whole things last five seconds, as opposed to 30 seconds or even two minutes.
For me the opening sequence, even though it was always the same, it was always welcome. You memorized the songs and sang along with it while producers showed you some of the best moments of past seasons. Now (I think) Openings have been reduced to merely 10 seconds just so we can welcome more commercial interruptions. Plain, simple and profitable. (Is it?)
Here are what I considered the Top 10 Shows Openings (not the openings themselves, but the shows). I selected this openings based on three factors: that I watched the shows, I always waited for the opening and that I know the opening song or can humm the theme.
10- Saved by the Bell (I’m a kid of the 90’s!)
9- Baywatch
8- Dawson’s Creek
7- Charmed
6- Beverly Hills 90210
5- Sex and the City
4- The Golden Girls (The Original Sex and the City)
3- Desperate Housewives
2- Friends
1- Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Agree? Disagree? Did I miss your favorite show? Let me know!
