With great power comes . . . great dance steps? Believe it or not, a musical based on Marvel’s super-hero “Spiderman” is in the making. MSN music news reported that Bono and The Edge are writing the musical score and will be directed by Julie Taymor, who was the creative force behind Disney’s The Lion King, among other of her projects are Across the Universe and Frida.The musical titled “Spiderman, Turn Off the Dark” and will include an origin-story plus some new material.
As E! Online reported there is still yet to be announced which villains will be part of the show and the cast, but it seems that The Wrestler’s Evan Rachel Wood will join the cast as Mary Jane Watson. She’s also trying to convince fellow Across the Universe star Jim Sturgess to join the cast (wild guess as Peter Parker).Preview performances for the musical will start on January 16, 2010 and “Spiderman, Turn Off the Dark” will officially open February 18, 2010 at The Hilton Theater.
