Last night were the 81st Annual Academy Awards, Oscar’s. The night were the best of Hollywood is awarded. Last night’s Oscar’s were a bit boring, I think that the awards start losing audience as soon as they start giving out the awards no one really cares about, like: Best Art Direction or Best Costume. Yes you and maybe five of your friends love those specific awards, and you all think is very important but here is where usually people start tuning out. I would say have two ceremonies like the Emmy’s do, the real Emmy and the Schmemmy’s (Kathy Griffin’s term).
Hugh Jackman’s opening. Dustin Lance Black, Milk screenwriter, acceptance speech
You have to give it to him. Last years for the gay community was a tough year and this kid who used to be a member of the Mormon Church, wanted to do something that will inspire others and will bring change. Very Obamanesque, but very deserving award. His speech will probably be used now. Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt shown while Jennifer Aniston on stage twice.Ben Stiller – Joaquin Phoenix impersonation. Penelope Cruz acceptance speech. Tina Fey / Steve Martin presenting
Can this two (or just Miss Tina Fey) host the Oscar’s next year? It was a delight seeing them together, they were hilarious!
Hugh Jackman’s musical montage. After announcing that in the UK MAma Mia! beat Titanic in the box office, Hugh Jackman announced that: “Yes! Musicals are back.” And with that like in every musical, he broke into song and dance which started a musical theme’s montage featuring Beyonce, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper. This montage was created by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge, Australia) and as good as it was, you could tell the Oscar’s producers were trying to appeal to the teen/tween audience by including Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens in it. I’m sorry but the High School Musical trilogy franchise won’t go down as one of the best musicals in movie history. Stop trying to be Nintendo and appealing to kids, it won’t save you. Heath Ledger’s Actor in a Supporting Role win.
Dead or alive he deserved it no matter what. When seeing The Dark Knight, unless you were reminded constantly that The Joker.
